Travel Joanes, BrazilHead to Joanes for total isolation. The town consists of a good hotel and a nice beach, as well as an old 17th-century church and a post office, but there is not much else. Shuttles run here from the ferry dock (R$3.50) and also run from Joanes to other areas of the island. You might also consider renting a bike for a good way to explore the area. Where to Stay:Pousada Ventania do Rio-Mar; s/d/t/q R$50/60/70/100, looks over the shore, rooms are nice with large patios, and the owners can set up outings for hiking, fishing, and the like. They also rent bikes. |
