Travel Alenquer, Brazil
Alenquer is located across the Amazon from Santerém. The town has several nice waterfalls nearby and is the gateway to Ciudade dos Deuses (City of the Gods), a field of odd rock formations, and Vale do Paraiso, which has additional waterfalls.
Tours from Santerém and Alder do Chão are recommended as the tourist infrastructure in Alenquer is lacking.

Pousada Vale do Paraiso; R$30 per person, nice bungalows that sleep 4-7 people
Alenquer Boat Routes:
It is advisable to come here as part of a tour but boats from Santerém cost R$10, 6 hours on a slow boat, or R$30, 3 hours for a speedboat. Most riverboats to and from Ilha de Marajó and Belem stop here as well.
